Free Sunday Afternoon Concert: Giulia Contaldo (piano)

Join us for a special afternoon concert by award-winning pianist Giulia Contaldo, who returns to Howden to mark the launch of her debut CD! Giulia’s programme explores the fantastic world of music inspired by myth and legend.

The performance will last just over one hour.

Giulia Contaldo recently performed Schumann’s Piano Concerto with the BBC Philharmonic, broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 (“a dashing account” – The Guardian). She has won prizes at numerous major international competitions and appeared as soloist with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Manchester Camerata, as well as being chosen to participate in the 2021 Leeds International Piano Competition.

Born on the outskirts of Florence, Italy, Giulia began playing the piano at the age of five, going on to study at Florence’s ‘Luigi Cherubini’ Conservatory. She completed her postgraduate studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, where she won the Concerto Competition and was awarded the RNCM’s prestigious Gold Medal.

Giulia is supported by the Keyboard Charitable Trust and is a scholar of the Imogen Cooper Music Trust.
