Say hello to the local traders

Howden’s traders are as well-known as the shops they run. From the creative flair of Tom at Tom Loves, to a friendly “What do you know?” from Philip Parkin the butcher to finding everything but the kitchen sink from Maggie at Touchwood Homecare, our friendly traders would love to welcome you and show what they have to offer. Stop by and truly shop local!

Howden market

Howden Shire Hall hosts a monthly Saturday craft market boasting more than 20 stalls. There is also a weekly Friday mini-market here. Week by week stalls vary, but you can always expect to find homemade cakes, jewellery, clothes, toiletries, Enid’s array of plants and a fresh fish stall straight from the port of Grimsby. ‘Friends of the Shire Hall ‘ run the Community Café which is open on market days, pop in and enjoy a drink and homemade cake.

Shopping with a view

Immerse yourself in the local shopping experience, amble around the historic cobbles, be wowed by Howden’s impressive Georgian architecture, discover hidden nooks and  crannies and see what Howden has to offer. While you’re here don’t forget to sample one of the many coffee shops or eateries or grab a takeaway coffee or ice cream, settle on one of the many benches in the market square and admire the seasonal hanging baskets or festive decorations.

Shop local, save the planet

Shopping locally not only helps to support the traders, but also helps the town to thrive. Buying from local businesses has a great effect on the community not to mention the impact on the environment – reducing the distance from field to fork and helping to reduce your carbon footprint.
